Cake smash sessions are a fun way to capture this beautiful moment and your baby’s budding personality. We are sure to capture your wee one having fun as they explore a cake made just for them!
In this fun, celebratory session, your little one will have the chance to smash a 5” customized cake while parents, caregivers, and siblings look on and participate. All our packages include high resolution images chosen by you, access to clothing in our client closet (for moms and kids) and you’ll get an online gallery you can show off to family and friends.
The best part of this session is that you’ll have captured your family’s authentic, loving, and unique moments of connection that will last for generations to come.

WHEN AND WHERE SHOULD MY SESSION TAKE PLACE?
First birthday cake smash sessions can take place in our Toronto studio located at 263 Adelaide Street West, at Mint Room Studios located in The Junction or outdoors in a park or open field. Cake smash sessions take place based on your child’s nap schedule so I recommend before or after a morning nap.
WHAT TYPE OF CAKE DO YOU RECOMMEND
We work with a vendor who creates simple, classic 5” buttercream cake cakes. I avoid cakes with colours and hard textures. A cake can be added to your session for an additional $100. A “one” cake topper and minimal props are included.
WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS ALLERGIES?
If your child has known allergies, please let me know in advance and an allergy-free cake can be tailored for you — whether it’s a milk, wheat, or egg allergy, all can be accommodated. A cake can be added to your session for an additional $100.
HOW LONG IS THE SESSION AND WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Cake smash sessions are about an hour in length. This allows for simple, candid child portraits; family portraits; the cake smash; and a milk bath at the end. Two outfit changes are allowed, in addition breaks when needed. Not every child loves their cake, so I get creative with snacks and work my magic to ensure you still get the most adorable photos you’ll love to look back on.
HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?
The best way to book is to use our online booking form. This will collect the non-refundable $100 deposit and take any information we need to get started. Then we will begin the consultation process and book your date.
What should my little one wear for the session?
I want you to look and feel your best, so I do personal consultations to determine what you and your family should wear for your session. I also have a large client closet of women’s dresses sizes XS-XL and tons of adorable rompers for especially for cake smash sessions. These are available to you at no extra cost with your booking.
HOW DO I CHOOSE MY PICTURES?
My online proofing system will allow you to select your images and send them to me for editing. The number of pictures you can choose depends on the number of images included in your package.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY FINAL PICTURES?
Your final, edited images will be sent to you via a Pixieset gallery within two to three weeks.
WHEN CAN I SEE MY PICTURES?
You will receive an online gallery within two days of your session with approximately 70-100 of your best images. Then you can choose your favourites for me to edit.
CAN I PRINT MY IMAGES MYSELF?
Yes! All our sessions include retouched images and a print release, so you can print these images with ease (or send them to relatives far away and they can print them locally). We offer professional prints through your online gallery and photo books upon request.
