What is Cake Smash Photography?
Cake smash photography is a fun and playful way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday. It involves setting up a custom setup with a beautiful cake, props, and decorations that reflect your baby’s personality and style. During the session, your baby is free to explore and enjoy their first taste of cake, resulting in adorable and joyful photos that capture the spirit of the occasion. What should my baby wear?
The more naked the better! We want to see the belly rolls, leg rolls, and all the baby cuteness! If you don’t have a ‘smashing outfit’ don’t worry we will provide one. We have a variety of diaper covers, pant bottoms, rompers, tutus, dresses, tops, and other options for your baby to wear for its smash.
How long will the session last?
A cake smash photography session for a baby typically lasts around one hour, depending on the baby’s mood and how they react to the experience. We’ll encourage your baby to explore and play with the cake while capturing adorable and joyful photos that will become cherished memories.
Can siblings and family members be included in the photos?
Yes! Sibling and family members are welcome to join in some photos. We tend to start with family and siblings and end with the cake smash session. Siblings are welcome to join the cake smash fun too!
Is there anything we should do to prepare our baby for the session?
Yes! Make sure your baby is rested and had a nap. Don’t feed them a big meal before the session, we want them a little hungry. For some babies who have never had sugary treats before, a cake smash photoshoot may be the first time they taste a sugary cake. While the experience can be enjoyable for most babies, some may have a negative reaction to the taste or texture of the cake. If you’re unsure how your baby will react to a sugary treat, you may want to introduce them to a small amount of cake or a cupcake beforehand to gauge their reaction.
What type of cake and decorations will be provided?
We will create a custom setup with a beautiful cake, props, and decorations that reflect your baby’s unique personality and style. We use high-quality equipment and lighting to ensure that your photos are bright, colourful, and full of life.
Can we bring our own cake?
We understand that some parents may want to bring their own cake for their baby’s cake smash photography session. We’re happy to accommodate this request and can work with you to ensure that the cake is safe and appropriate for the session. However, we also want to ensure that your baby will enjoy the taste of the cake and have a positive experience during the session. To ensure this, we recommend that you choose a cake that your baby has tried before and likes the taste of.
