Maternity portraits are ones that all moms-to-be should have documented. This time is such a wild one in the couple’s life – it’s the quiet before the storm. The days leading up until your family becomes three or in Erica’s case becomes four.

When Erica contacted me about doing maternity photos and requested Sunnyside beach due to it’s close proximity to St. Joseph’s hospital I had to ask why. She told me she was expecting twins any day now and needed to be as close to a hospital in case an emergency arose. We met the next day at the beach and documented her belly bump along with her husband Eric who is also a doctor. I’m so glad we did because she was rushed to the hospital the next day to give birth to her twin girls born premies.

Most maternity sessions are booked between 29-34 weeks but it really depends on how you feel. You don’t want to shoot too early when your belly is small but you also don’t want to be able to move around freely and be comfortable.

You will see that most of the moms-to-be I photograph wear flowy dresses. A lot of the dresses you see in our photos are ones we have for you to use in our client closet in a range of sizes. I want to make having your maternity photos taken by us a a memorable and stress-free experience. You don’t have to wear a dress but doing so provides a really nice flow and movement to the images. If you book with me, I will work with you to find just the right outfit during our styling consultation.

It is highly recommended to make a tentative maternity booking around weeks 32-36 and at least 3-4 months in advance of your due date. Once your baby is born, you can contact me and we will arrange a suitable time and day for your session. If your little one has already arrived, don’t worry, you’re not too late! Please contact me as soon as possible and I can try to schedule you in.
