Photos play an important role in everyone’s life – they connect us to our past, they remind us of people, places, feelings, and stories. They can help us to know who we are and how much we are loved.

As a photographer, my favourite images to capture are ones where moms get in the frame with their children. Getting moms to exit in photos with their children is a mission a times especially for newborn photos after a woman has just given birth and doesn’t feel like herself. “It’s just for the kids. I don’t want to be in the photos” is something I hear far too often and what I work to change and here’s why.
BE IN PHOTOS FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
The images with you in them will be the ones your children will cherish the most when they are older. If you don’t do it for you, do it for your children. Imagine your baby in 10 years time looking through a family album and not finding any photos of you in it. Now, picture your child looking at a photo of you looking at him/her with a smile on your face and love in your eyes. Which situation do you think will make them feel loved and as part of a family?

PHOTOS CAPTURE A GLIMPSE OF TIME
Photos send you back in time. Looking at photos of you with your children will bring back the emotions you felt at that particular time of their life and who would not want a time machine. That stolen kiss, giggle or baby cuddle to celebrate a milestone is such a precious moment you’ll want to remember for a lifetime.

YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL JUST AS YOU ARE NOW!
You probably look better now than you will in the next 10-20 years. If you keep waiting for this or that to change before you get in front of the camera, you never will. So just do it and in 20 years time you’ll look at the images and think “I absolutely love this photo of me and my tiny baby in my arms. What I would do to look like this again”. 🙂

SET AN EXAMPLE OF CONFIDENCE FOR YOUR DAUGHTER
Embrace who you are. Have courage and show yourself in photographs to your children and to yourself. Show your daughters the kind of self assured, happy woman she should become, and show your sons the kind of woman he should find. They will grow up and they will look at pictures from their childhood and if they’re lucky, they will see you being fully there with your loved ones.

YOU DON’T NEED TO POSE AND SMILE, JUST BE YOURSELF
As a lifestyle photographer, I capture candid moments as they unfold with a little bit of direction. My approach and contact put my clients at ease and they end up enjoying the session more than they anticipated. Being photographed doesn’t have to be stressful – we make it fun, authentic and playful so you can focus on being you and loving your new baby.
